How to delete Acronis Cyber Protect

    Hello,
I am considering a clean reinstall if I can get the nerve. My main issue is that I have issues with Acronis and I can't even uninstall it. I have had previous versions and have updated to latest, but am not satisfied with the product or support. They say I have to disable my antivirus programs to run a modified reinstall. Along with other issues, is there a way to hack it out of my machine and maybe saving myself from the clean install??????
    Thanks for any ideas

Personally, I would just scroll down (on that page), and get the proper cleanup utility, and run that.

    Hello Ghot,
Yes I ran their cleanup utility, it fails saying it can't find an installation. Couldn't modify during a reinstall because it could not find the current installation. Thanks

I also has trouble "completely" removing Acronis True Image.
I tried the methods they recommended as well.
Eventually, I just reinstalled Windows 10.

Acronis seems to use a pretty vicious kernel hook. Their cleanup utility should remove it, but...

Back in May 2020 I was first installing Win10 and the old version of ATI that I had wouldn't work on Windows 10.
So I installed the newer version, and it seemed seriously bloated.
Then, while on here I saw the Macrium tutorial, and thought... that's what I need.

So... I tried to uninstall Acronis. It was a vicious fight. Even after following all of Acronis' instructions... something was making me think there were still remnants. So, I said... wth... and just clean installed Win 10 again.

    Mike,

    Thanks.
I'm not about to remove AcronisTI but it's handy knowing what to expect.

    All the best,

Yeah... I know it's not very scientific response, but it's what I remember happening.
If you "need" all of Acronis' "extras" then I can say... the 2010 version I was running on W7, never failed me... ever.

The newer version just seemed, too much, for me. It had too many Services, and processes as well.
Since I had no need for the "extras"... I just decided to get rid of it.

But... I never had any "problems" with the program itself. There was probably a way to "turn off" all the extras.
But I was dealing with Win 10 for the 1st time, and I didn't need... what seemed to me, like a 2nd OS to deal with.
    Acronis was just... too big.

    Back then...
It seemed like it was trying to email me, every time it did anything, it wanted to know my shoe size, and whether I liked tea or coffee. It was just so much more... invasive than the older version... I just couldn't deal with it.

Macrium, seemed just as powerful, much less invasive... and the only thing I really had to do, was tell it that I didn't want to do Incrementals or differentials, and turn off one Startup entry.
I did have to fight with the way it named my backups. It took me a bit to figure out how to turn off the ImageID thing.
Otherwise... the defaults were pretty much set to just do backups and restores with no BS.

To this day I still miss Norton Ghost 2003. It did backups and restores and made bootable media for me... that's it.
