Macrium has no option for full backup on existing backup.

    Hello,
as I remeber, when I created my system drive backup, I set after some differential backups, full backup will be created and also old backup will be automatically deleted. But if I want make new backup, I can only choose differential or incremental but not full backup. Also old backups are not deleted. I dont see any settings for my already created backup plan. What I am doing wrong? I dont use sheduled backup.

    Thanks.

In my Macrium I do like this:

Highlight the disk-->Push "Image this disk"-->Choose Folder for Destination then press "Next"-->and then I got this options.

    I never experienced that.
You may should close Macrium and restart it?

If you want, let us say 8 back-ups, you just choose that (ref 1.picture), and when you are creating the ninth back-up it will delete the oldest one from the other back-ups.

This is the picture from the HDD where I keep my FULL back-ups. I got 5 of them. Every time I make a new back-up the oldest one will be deleted. If I had chosen 7 back-ups (ref 1.pic) it would have kept seven of them.

    You are selecting wrong tab

You just select "create a new backup" and the select a predefined xml file you created first time you make a full backup. Then you select xml file each time you want to make an identical backup.

You then have choice of full, differential (and incremental for paid version).

Under 'Definition Files' - the xml files that define each backup job.

But if I want make new backup, I can only choose differential or incremental but not full backup.
You can do that any time you like: start from one of the highlighted options:

    To consider- for further help:
    a. Use the Macrium's own help documentation.

    b. Search for and watch some of the Youtube videos on Macrium Reflect.

    c. Get a license, then you can post queries on MR's support forum.

When you created your first backup you were given the option (selected by default) to save the backup definition file.

When you want to create another backup go to Create Backups > Definition files where you can run your backup definition again, and here you do have the option to run it as a Full backup.

Well I not saved definition file during backup setup, that means I can do only differential backup on existing backup? There will be no auto-purge and no full backup after some number of differential backups?

You are misunderstanding a fundamental point.

All full images are new images.
There is no such thing as as full backup on an existing backup.

You can only add incrementals and differentials to a full backup.

Just create a new full backup, and save the xml file, and you can repeat what you have chosen to backup at any time.

When I do a full backup, I select which partitions I want to backup when doing a full backup. By saving the xml file, I can repeat backup without having to go through selection process every time.

You can schedule how many full backups to keep if you wish.

Now I understand. How many differential backup should I create for system disc? What is your recommendation? I think creating differentials forever causes that file will be bigger over time, so one day I should delete whole set and create new full backup.
