Rely Macrium backups on last access timestamp?

    Hello,
I have disabled "last access timestamp" on Windows. Does Macrium somehow rely on that timestamp when creating differential/incremental backup? Or I need do always full backup?

    Thanks.

Macrium does not need to know when you last accessed anything.
I cannot think of an application that does.

I do not know what you did to disable "last access timestamp" or, indeed, what you mean by disabling it.
Perhaps you just mean that you do not show that column in File explorer?

I opened CMD.exe with administrator rights and then I wrote:

    fsutil behavior query disablelastaccess
DisableLastAccess = 2 (System Managed, Disabled)

    Changed to:
    fsutil behavior set disablelastaccess 1
DisableLastAccess = 1 (User Managed, Enabled)

    Result:
    fsutil behavior query disablelastaccess
DisableLastAccess = 1 (User Managed, Enabled)

    Ah, that.
You are ahead of me on that one.
I have only looked into the File explorer, Date accessed column once and that was six years ago. I had forgotten about the use of FSUtil to enable/disable it.

Looking through my notes from the time I understood that Date accessed was disabled by default so I cannot understand the comment about it affecting backups but what you say is endorsed by fsutil behavior - SS64

    Sorry I cannot help,

No. Macrium looks for sectors that have changed since the last Full backup.

Then disabled timestamp is perfectly safe. Thank you.
