    Having trouble setting up email notification from Macrium Reflect

    I am trying to set up email notification using my gmail SMTP settings, but the email is always rejected by the server regardless of what combination of email server fields I try. For example...

    where the blurred text is my email address.

    I would be happy with any form of notification, e.g., a popup from the system tray. But email seems to be the only kind of notification that Macrium offers.

    Yes. Keep in mind that all Macrium notifications will be pushed - including image start and finish, etc.

    I haven't tried it yet, but in Macrium under Reflect Defaults and Settings -> Event Settings, you may be able to control the output more closely.
    Then again, it might just be for the logfile produced after each run, as it is an event.

    Settings > System > Notifications > Macrium Reflect slide switch > On
    The "Macrium Reflect Disk Imaging and Backup" slide switch is turned On and it has always been turned on. Unfortunately, its only effect is to make a Macrium icon appear in the system tray when a backup is actually running. 90% of the time the icon appears in the "hidden icons" area which makes it even less useful. When the icon disappears from the system tray, it means the backup completed. But it doesn't mean the backup completed successfully. To determine that, you must go to the Macrium log to make sure the backup actually succeeded.

    I cannot find Defaults and Settings -> Event Settings

    The Gear icon is "Edit Defaults" but I don't see anything related to Events.

    If I search notifications in the Macrium Reflect 7.2 knowledge base, nothing useful comes up other than to say that notifications are under control of the operating system.

    I'm running Home Edition v7.3.5925

    @perkinw -

    I'm using Macrium Reflect Version 8. I don't have Version 7 installed on any of my systems.
    Cleanly uninstall Version 7 before you proceed.

    You might wish to upgrade to Version 8 Free:

    I'm looking at "Select which icons appear on the taskbar."

    As you can see, the slide switch is on. There is no > symbol after the slide switch. I think you may be referring to some other setting in System. If so, I would appreciate your helping me find it.

    As I mentioned earlier, the Macrium Backup icon only appears in the system tray while the backup is actually running. I run my backups on a schedule, so I'm not usually watching the icon. And as I mentioned earlier, the icon is usually hiding in the "Show Hidden Icons" area of the system tray.
