    Macrium Reflect 8 not getting updates.

    I have been using Macrium Reflect 8 for a while now and the past couple of days I have been getting this message when checking for updates:

    Macrium Reflect 8 not getting updates.-macrium-reflect-8.jpg

    The Macrium Reflect Updater states that is "Unable to download update information."

    I tried everything I can think of such as adding it to the list of allowed apps through firewall (Public and Private), reinstalling it several times and even using the "Other Tasks" update option.

    It just keeps giving the same error over and over and was wondering if anyone knows if it is on Macriums' end?

    I won't buy it if they are having this trouble on the paid version as well and was wondering if anyone that has already bought it for $69.95 (perpetual license) is having the same issue?

    I have it installed on several devices (I have 5 paid licences) plus I have free version in several vms. They all update fine.

    I have not seen any posts on Macrium Reflect forum talking about your issue

    You should just uninstall it and reinstall it to see if problem goes away.

    @cereberus

    Yes, I did uninstall and reinstall the program twice. Each time the updater worked once and then started spitting out the error code after each second attempt to check for updates.

    So...........I have it isolated to it works once after a fresh install and then something corrupts the updater. I did a full offline and online scan for malware or viruses and nothing came up. I did a sfc /scannow and DISM restore health command to no avail as well.

    I didn't see anything about this problem on their forums either and just needed someone who actually bought the product to confirm that the program is working.

    Let me know if you stumble across anything else I can check.

    Thanks!

    P.S.--------On second thought, I did come across a post that stated to disable Windows Defender while installing the program, so as to allow all necessary files from Macrium to install correctly.

    I use WD & MR premium & have no problems installing updates.
    I would make a note of your license key then use Revo Uninstaller to cleanly remove the program, choosing to scan for leftovers using the aggressive setting then install a new version of Revo.
    Download Revo Uninstaller Free - Remove unwanted programs easily
    Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition
    Use the saved key to upgrade the free version to the full version.

    Thank you for your links. I tried installing and uninstalling the Macrium Reflect 8 free edition for a couple of hours last night to no joy.

    I did not try the Revo uninstaller method yet and I get the feeling that may work because every time I remove the product by the Windows user interface, upon reinstallation, Macrium detects files still existing in the system.

    Although for some reason, I get the feeling the free edition is no longer available as a install because the Macrium Download Agent keeps trying to get me to install the 30 day trial.

    I will try a couple more attempts using the uninstall method of Revo Uninstaller and report back if that works.

    No, you've just downloaded the wrong download agent. The one for the trial is named ReflectDLHT.exe and the one for Reflect Free is ReflectDLHF.exe. It really doesn't matter though, the only difference between the installers that they download is that one will install using the Trial key, the other with the Free key. In any case, Trial reverts to Free after the 30 days are up.

    @Bree

    I am aware of both the download agents and their requirements. I tried the Home Install version (30 day trial) and the Update agent within the program did the same thing again as shown in my picture attachment in my first post. The updater worked one time and then reverted to being "Unable to download update information".

    Here is the Home Trial proof:

    It is doing the same thing as the Free Trial Version, so I started a support ticket with Macrium because this is a one-off problem that must be sorted out by Macrium alone.

    The Revo Uninstaller method produced no joy either on the uninstall, as even though it was on my system, it did not show up in the uninstall list.

    I will report back after Macrium Reflect gets back with me about my submission ticket.

    @EyeInTheSky the Macrium link I posted goes direct to the free version if this is what you need.

    I had no luck with the free or Home Trial so far and a support agent is currently helping me.

    Man they are fast to respond to problems. After I sent in the support ticket, the auto- response reply stated it would take Macrium 72 hours to get back with me because it is not the paid version.

    They replied within minutes and are looking into it.
