    Hi

Ibe just backed up. The win 11 fresh install from last night and replacing the core partitions only.
You are correct the macrium pe usb boot was mad in win 10.
Im now doing this within macrium in win11. Restoring bow so fingers crossed.

@Bree and @ Dalchina Thank you both for your help.
Dalchina you were the key on this one. Id not really thought, however had registred mentally as odd, with win10pe on the macrium PE info header.
In the end, the new installation of win11 i installed macrium and backed up the new install just in case using the pe boot enviroment from windows desktop.
This got me to the partition restore previously mentioned.
Then on the wifes laptop (win11) downloaded macrium reflect and created a boot disk. This defaulted again to win 10 pe as that what it was reading the os as so a technical error on the auto setup.
However this time I could see the 970 drive and 970 boot sector in the bios boot option screen.
This failed and windows 10 could not repair auto.
Solution was to go to advance during the rescue media setup and ensure the (option2) use winpe11 with usb3 etc etc.
I then used this to perform the boot repair as still not booting.
    This again failed.
Rebooted again - again windows auto repair failed.
Booted again - voila -the old famliar win 11 log on screen. All working.
Now to retrieve the hard drive(s) that I seem to have corrupted (see win11 forum :) )

    All the best.

always good to get out of difficulty. Yesterday I updated Firefox from 88 to 96 - tabs were nowhere to be seen except a floating one above the taskbar. Weird.

Attempted System Restore- oh. Blue screen.

Had to save some very recent data, then restore C: from an image, then the data. Imaging is very useful- provided it's current....
