    A Macrium Reflect Boot USB issue

    I've used this app since the early days of XP. Its easy to use, fast and reliable.

    However, with (probably) 7.3 I started experiencing one small issue.
    (I don't recall which exact version or build no. was installed when this issue first started.)

    When I boot using the bootable USB, Macrium loads until the process hits 'loading
    networking...' the activity bar sweeps a few times then stops and just hangs there -
    seemingly frozen -- for 97sec before proceeding with no further issues.

    I generally rebuild the boot media after each upgrade and under Advanced settings
    specifically UNcheck the option to use Wifi since all my images are local. Still I
    get the hang at ' loading networking...'. I even tried renaming the Wifi folder on the
    usb stick ... and get the same delay.

    Current version is 'Macrium Reflect 7.3.6391'.

    Any ideas why this is happening -- and how to prevent it?

    Many thanks.

    Hi, Sikorski5689.

    I use some software not created by me in this post. I've made the download link direct to avoid the many ads on the page the download was originally on, and scanned it for viruses in VirusTotal, so everything should be good.

    1 Head to this (7zip) or this (winrar) link first.

    2 Now, this download is required. (portable macrium reflect).

    3 Next, open this .rar file in Winrar or 7zip. Look for the .exe file.

    4 Double click it, then click 'YES'.

    And you should be inside Macrium Reflect. If so, extract the entire .rar into your USB, and see if that works any better.

    Well most obvious thing to try is completely uninstall it and install Version 8.

    Sikorski5689,
    Do you use the paid or free version? If free, try the new v8.

    @James
    Thanks but I couldn't get the exe to load from a booted/bootable usb or the desktop.
    @steve108 & @cereberus
    Free version -- and yes, installing 8 is certainly an option/solution and I'm sure that's where I will end up eventually -- but at the
    moment, I'm on a mission -- to find out why this app is doing something it was expressly configured not to do.

    I used Macrium for the last 10 years. Never had this issue with the USB rescue install.

    Look in the BIOS and see if anything references Wi-Fi and if there is disable it and see if it makes a difference.

    It could be a network driver related issue. Could be a bug.

    In the end, you should move to V8 anyway as that is actively supported. If the new version works, why waste any more effort?

    If you don't use networking, press the Esc key when it starts loading network drivers and see if that speeds up the boot time.

    @fireberd

    In the past I tried unplugging my modem entirely and that had no effect at all.

    @cereberus

    True. I suppose its just time to move along. I've dl'd v8 & PE 10. Luckily my v7 images are
    compatible with v8.
    @steve108

    Tried that but unfortunately it had no effect at all.

    I'd like to thank each of you for your time and unput. You have been great!

    I use WinRe as it allows backup over wifi, and does not need a 1 GB download. Also, it seems to be better at sorting drivers.
