But Wifi is precisely what I am trying to avoid.

But your comment got me thinkin'. If WinRe allows for Wifi, is there a Base Wim that does not? After
some web searching it appears that WinPE 10 is that animal. So I recreated the boot media using
WinPE 10 -- booted -- and again there is a long delay stuck at 'loading networking...'. Arrrgh.

But while I sat staring at the screen waiting for Reflect to actually load, I wondered if the delay was
actually due to 'networking' at all. Is it possible the delay is due to Reflect searching drives for image
    files??

When it finally does load there are no images listed -- I need to click 'Browse for images' to
navigate to the images. My images are stored on an SSD connected via USB. Maybe Reflect
    is confused by that.

Gonna copy an image to an internal HDD and see if the boot media finds that more amenable.

My Image files are on a USB connected (mechanical) drive. No slowdown that I'm aware of.

Use WinRE and deselect option for including wifi.

No doubt Wifi capability is very useful for some foks, but not me. It'is precisely what I am trying to avoid.

(BTW that !GB download actually lands as a 463mb file.)

But while I sat staring at the screen waiting for Reflect to fully load, I wondered if the delay was
entirely due to 'networking'. I believe the delay is due in part to Reflect scanning drives for image
files. I just recently became aware of HDD activity initiating as soon as the scrolling for 'loading
networking...' halted at the start of the delay.

I did install v8 and the delay occurs whether using WinPE or WinRe based media.

Also,, in the booted Macrium environment under Other tasks > Network connections, my ISP is listed
though the 'Status' is 'disconnected'. It must have been connected to detect my ISP. But why is Macrium
online at all when Wifi is supposed to be disabled?

As far as I can tell, drivers for ethernet networking are installed in WinPE regardless if you are actually connected vias an ethernet cable. WinRE also OPTIONALLY adds wifi drivers.

I assume (guessing admittedly) the ISP data is setup at time you create the rescue drive or else you would have to set it up each time you booted into winpe/re).

Also, issue re. images not being found on usb drive is probably because usb drive letters are not always same in winpe mode.
