No mouse/keyboard when booting into Macrium Rescue media

    Windows is installed to unallocated space. No need during a clean install to create a partition manually...
    You delete all partitions comprising the previous Windows installation. (If there's a data partition you could potentially leave that in place)

    Given what you said above, probably wise to format the disk as well, just in case- which you can as part of normal clean install sequence.
    If I highlight the unallocated space on the SSD the Next button is not highlighted - i.e. there's no option to install to it. The only option is "New" (partition), but I get the error above if I try to create one.

    It seems Windows can't be installed on the unallocated space on the SSD because "the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems Windows can only be installed to GPT disks"

    Oh OK I just noticed that there was another partition on the SSD (I needed to scroll down to see it). I deleted that and now the Windows installation has finally started....
