    New Backup Capability...

For years (as far back as W7), I have used a pair of Seagate 500 GB USB drives for father/son system image backups. Recently, the drives became unusable to W10 21H1, so after much troubleshooting, I spent $100 for a pair of 1 TB USB drives. Now with MR, I can have three backups on each drive while still alternating the drives with each backup. The old drives are soaking in a bucket of brine with the cases cracked open. Lots of bubbling from them.

    Hello @jamis,

I have noticed that you have NOT had ANY replies, so I thought that I would try and help.

I do NOT understand what the problem is or what you are asking. Could you explain in a little MORE detail please?

Not a problem, just a comment on using multiple backup media to ensure recovery of the system. The media I had been using for many years was no longer usable by W10 and was replaced by new, larger capacity media. That is why I marked the thread resolved. Thanks for asking.

@jamis. Soaking in brine, that’s a clever way to dispose of old spinners.

I just drill a couple of holes through old, redundant or failed spinners........

I always do that but drilling can generate a lot of metal shards. The salt water might be less cleanup. I might try it next time.

I still have an old degausser from audio tape days and find it does a great job of de-magnetizing HDDs, which removes the data.

    Update: Corrected careless error.

You would be better off demagnetizing them de-magnifying would just make them look smaller

Then people think they wont fit into a pc. So it does the job of preventing anyone trying to get the data.
