Help! Just tried to restore a Macrium image backup and got an error??

Using Windows 10 with Macrium Reflect Free v7.3.6284. Just tried to restore an image backup and got this error message... see attachment. What did I do wrong? It asked if I wanted to create rescue disk (?) ... wasn't sure how to answer so I said yes. Other than that I just told it which image backup to restore. Please help! I am so frustrated after working on this laptop for days.

Hi, I guess you're booted normally into Windows and trying to restore the O/S?

That's impossible - as the disk is in use by Windows.

There are two options - which it's trying to prompt you to do..

Either - if you have already enabled the boot option for Macrium, you can restart and the restore will be attempted.

Or - create and use the Macrium bootable disk, then boot your PC from that and then perform the restore.

In both cases the point is Windows isn't running while the O/S restoration is in progress.

You should first create a rescue USB, then boot that device to run the restore. As the message indicates, you are trying to restore an image to a drive that is in use.

There are the two options, as I tried to explain, and which are illustrated in the screenshot.
That is one of the ones I mentioned.

Thanks for the quick comments. I panicked when I saw that error message. I had watched at video by Macrium and followed the instructions to a tee but I think I was away from the laptop when a message came up to restart. After I saw the error message I turned it off and took a break for a couple of hours. When I turned it back on there was a blue screen with two options... one to start Windows and the other to start the restore via Macrium! Whew! Bottom line a restore can be set up in Windows and when it reboots it starts the restore. The other way, of course, is to create rescue media as Quandary suggested. Thanks again guys!
