Using updated version Windows 10. Recently added a NAS and am trying to have File History store on the NAS. I also have the target NAS folder mapped as drive Z. When I try to add drive in File History neither Z nor the NAS is available. There is no link to "show network drives".
I use a NAS with File History, it is not mapped as a Drive.
Network Location in File History is of this form:
\\DeviceName\SharedFolderName
File History > Select Drive > Show all network locations.
It has been years since setting up, but I have set Read/Write permissions in the NAS box for the Shared Folder used for File History.
The NAS and mapped drive do show in File Explorer.

Go to The "Backup Using file history" page.
Click on "More Options" under "Add a Drive".
Click on "See advanced settings" and verify all is good in this window.
Click on "Select Drive" in the left pane.
Click "add a network Location"under the drive list .
Browse to your Device and select your backup directory.
Click "Select Folder".
Click "OK"
Do an initial backup.
OK - That showed me that it was using the legacy backup (Windows 7) to another (unattached) drive. Click on change drive. The mapped drive still did not show. Clicked on network drive. I found the folder on the NAS but it won't accept my log in credentials. I don't think the folder has any but File History won't let me process without entering some.

Created log in credentials for the NAS account and now File History doesn't see the NAS at all.

I don't know what kind of NAS you are using. But I think this should be configured at your "Shared directory level".
Check folder permissions, If your NAS is 100% SMB compliant you should be able to use your Windows Creds there.
If not, there should be an options to authorize "Everyone" Write / Read.
Do you have tried to just copy some files from explorer to your NAS see how it reacts ?
I am using TrueNAS. I can manually move files without a problem using file explorer both directly and through the mapped drive. I also was able to see and specify a mapped drive on another computer and File History is working fine on that machine to the same NAS machine.

Try to run SFC / scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth.
If it is working from another machine. and only this part is not working. You may have some corrupted system files.
