Want opinions on easy to use backup software!!

Have Windows 10 and have been using Macrium Reflect Free 7 but I'm not happy with it. I mounted my latest Image backup to find a folder that I had named and cannot find it. None of the names of the folders are recognizable. ??? What is the point of allowing you to mount the image if you cannot find the data??

Has anyone used backup software that it simple and easy to use and retrieve data from?? Please advice. Thanks.

Hello sillycat41 and welcome to TF ,
If you mounted the image through Macrium Reflect, it should have mounted to a different drive letter. If you browse that driver letter with File Explorer, every folder that was on you C: drive at the time your backup image was created should be there under the new drive letter.

So if MR mounted your backup image to X: , you should be able to go to X:\Users\<your username>\Documents, etc. Are you not seeing something similar to that?

This video is from version 5, but the concept is the same: Browse a backup image using Macrium Reflect v5 - YouTube

There are plenty to choose from. Aomei is generally regarded as simple to use. Or you could do wim images, which have a number of advantages. A simple way to do that is with dism++

    sillycat41,
I'm glad you found your folder in your backup image. IMHO Macrium Reflect is a great backup tool. If you ever have any questions, come here and we'll help you. There's also the Macrium Reflect website and YouTube.

Did you figure out what those unrecognizable folder names were? Maybe we can help if you post a path and are curious to know.

Please mark this thread as solved when you feel satisfied to do so.

Okay, my bad... I didn't realize that I had to look for my personal folders under Users. However I still have a problem, I cannot restore my Thunderbird profile. Unfortunately I did not export it to a file because I wasn't anticipating Windows to crash. Apparently I cannot find the profile from the backup to copy and paste into the repaired Windows 10. Looks like I'll have to restore the last image backup and save my T-bird profile, then restore this latest backup and import the profile. Good thing I didn't have any plans today.

First look for the profile on C:
Profile folder - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

Then change C: to the mapped Macrium drive letter and see if it's in the backup image too. Hopefully it's there if you did a full backup of your boot drive.

Thanks for all the help guys. I never did find the T-bird profile in the image backup. Ended up saving all recent data, did a new image backup then restored the older version. I'm in the process of saving my Mozilla profile folders and then will restore the latest image backup and plug in my Mozilla profile. Lots of extra work but hopefully this will work. Thanks again for your support.
