Hi, I'll offer you what is a pretty standard comment here, reflecting MS's own advice- don't use Backup and Restore (Windows 7) - instead, use more robust and maintained 3rd party imaging programs.

Many here use Macrium Reflect, and there are others by e.g. Aomei and Easeus.

One benefit of disk imaging is that it checks the integrity of the used blocks on the disk- a CRC error check. So imaging can fail if there is a problem- which can help to give an early warning.

The free version of MR includes differential imaging, and many find it quite good enough. However you can't post on MR's forum, though you can search it.

The paid version adds incremental imaging and some more advanced features.

The boot disk includes a couple of useful repair utilities.

Plenty of guides and Youtube videos available, and a massive help file.

    You're welcome.

As to English- there are many different 'Englishes'. And within Britain too.. examples:
'Me and me mum was in town the other day...' (yes, some people speak like that).
    'We ain't got no milk...'

And look at all the MS forums where representative so often say:
'I suggest you to run a diagnostic'.
'I recommend to check your disk'

And on tenforums, again and again questions are asked, 'How to solve this problem' - which in conventional English would be a heading, with text following describing how to do it.

Great- hope you created a backup job for future diff. images with suitable retention rules to make sure your storage medium doesn't fill e.g.
    system image backup fails-untitled.png

    - and that you imaged all partitions comprising the O/S (4 for UEFI).

A useful tip is to allocate a drive letter to the external disk via Disk Management if that's what's used late in the alphabet so it's always allocated that letter irrespective of other devices plugged in. (This can be done retrospectively).
