    System hdd to file? How?

    Hi!
I'm searching for a solution to make a copy/clone of my hdd where the OS is installed, but the cloned data should be in a file.

I use DiskGenoiuse to clone my mechanic drives to ssd, but now I need to clone any hdd to a file like iso or whatever format, so I can later, if I need to replace a hdd just use the file to restore the whole system.

Is there an app, open source or free out in the wild?

    Thanks.

    Macrium Reflect Free:
Macrium Software | Reflect Free Edition

You can save individual partitions to an image file, or the whole HDD. To restore it, make sure to create (and test) a rescue USB flash drive which is one of the menu options in the Other Tasks menu.

Today I tried to transfer a partition from an old hdd with Macrium, but failed due to bad sectors on the source hdd. :-(

"Backup aborted! Unable to read from disk — Error Code 23 — Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

Is there any option to skip any checking or to skip the failed area in Macrium?

Forget about cloning - too many posts in too many forums about failed cloning attempts.

On the other hand .... far less posts about imaging > restoring an image, which would suggest a higher success rate.

Macrium Reflect is still your friend.

In advanced settings there is an option to ignore bad sectors.

If you want folders as a file anything like winrar , winzip will do it and compress and save space
