    Aomei Backup

I think I finally found a backup software I like and trust. Aomei is well documented and so far it has worked well on backing up and creating a boot media disk.

Just thought I would let everyone know.

    Have a great day.

    I totally agree.

I have used it for MANY years without ANY problems. It does what I need it to do. It does of course depend on what your personal Backup & Imaging requirements are, but in that case, there are others availably which have been discussed many times on this Forum.

Moved to the Backupper pro a few years back - never let me down on retrieving a backup the odd damaged file or two upto a full system recovery,

I've also used the Synchronise feature for a portable external drive holding my photo collection when I travel - Its set to sync whenever it's plugged in to either my desktop or my laptop

In nearly 40 years I have never really had to use a backuper to save a computer. I keep my fingers crossed that I never do. If I have to, I think Aomei will do the trick. My old Windows 7 PC is really getting long in the tooth. I have it backed up with both Macrium Reflect and Aomei. I have checked my boot media disk and it works. I hope I am ready.

Take care and have a great day.

Even though I have been using Macrium Reflect and Image For Windows for some years now, I am glad that we all have found backup / restore programs that we like, that we find easy to understand and use, and those we actually routinely use! :)

I do a backup every weekday - When I say "I" I actually mean the scheduled task that does the job for me

Barman58, is your backup device always attached to the computer? If so, how do you guard against ransomware?

I have - just the once.

I had a hard drive I needed to test...

The alarm bell was for this other machine's own HDD. Its SMART data showed over 300 reallocated sectors. Now, some 12 hours disk use later, that number has grown to 1,568. The use the disk was being put to was taking a Macrium image of it. I'm treating it to a Samsung 860 Evo as a replacement.

Whilst I do not disagree Aomie is a good choice and fine for basic use, it is not as flexible as Macrium Reflect.

Its one plus in the free version area is it offers incremental versions, but the minuses are ability to mount images as a HyperV vm, its very useful 'fix windows boot problems", better handling of dissimilar size hard drives etc.

I agree for beginners the AOMEI interface is easier, but it does not take long to learn the Reflect interface.

However, where Reflect really scores over Aomei is the awesome Rapid Delta Restore function (and Rapid Delta Cloning).

In the end, the key point is about trust. Down the years, I have tested all the main tools, and the one area that floored many of the main pachan packages were trying to backup the 16/32GB 32bit Uefi tablets (rare nowadays) with only Reflect and Easeus Todo able to backup and restore those devices.

Still, by far the most important feature is trust. I have never had Reflect fail on me in many years, and I use it a lot.

Of course, it makes no harm to use two independent tools, but my trust in Reflect is so high, I personnally do not bother.

However, in the end, the crucial point is this forum actively encourages use of disk imaging for basic disaster protection (as a minimum), and Aomei is fine for that.

I have moved to Aeomi after problems with EasyUs, it failed to even open it's own recovery images.
Acronis and Macrium do not even work on my PC, they have too many dependencies and break easily.
