I would love to see you expand on that claim. I've never heard of Macrium Reflect "not working" on a PC.
I have security restricted PC, no WSH or PowerShell allowed, so any software based on that will fail.
Just upon starting it up it is already complaining. Trying to create a system image failed with errors.

I currently do not have time to test it, dealing with a catastrophic failure (removed important files, lol).

    Hello @squibbon,

[1] Did you have to download the Windows AIK [ Windows Automated Installation Kit ]?
[2] As a test, try using the Create Bootable Disc Based On Linux Kernel option and then Burn the ISO to a CD or USB.
    (1) No

    (2) Sorry, but not going to fool with this thing again - I've been burned TWICE now by Backupper trying to create bootable media. Already uninstalled it and reinstalled Macrium Free. Shame because Partition Assistant has always worked flawlessly for me.

I guess from Barman's response, it is better to do a system backup. This gives me the C-drive backup plus things I don't even know about.

    Is that correct?

Yes. It basically Images EVERYTHING that is needed to Boot and run the OS as it was when the Image was created. You can of course, also Image / Backup OTHER Partitions.

    I hope this helps.

Yes the system image backup is the best option - I also use partition backups for my data this images one or more partitions (rather than a file by file backup, the advantage of this is that it allows you when required "Mount" the partition in your running system and locate and copy individual files or groups of files. ...

Yesterday I was doing other things whilst I was reorganizing some folders of data - as it turns out I deleted some stuff I still needed and also cleared the recycle bin I simply mounted the backup of the partition containing the files I needed - and used drag and drop to restore them to their correct location.

yes, I could have used a traditional backup to recover the partition, and its files, but this would have recovered to the state of the last backup so I would have to start my reorganisation again from the beginning

MR, AOMEI, EaseUS, and many more, to some degree, allow one to cherry-pick folders and files from within images.

Barman I had made a backup of my C-drive so I guess now I need to go back and make a backup using the System backup.
