Restore error 87 with Macrium
Trying to restore a drive, but I'm getting "Restore failed - Error 87" whenever I try. I've already run chkdsk. Is there something that I need to do like run as admin or something?

Macrium's forum states this is a Windows-produced error number, not one known to Macrium.
Two suggestions about possible 3rd party programs interfering with Macrium. E.g. security software.
Backup aborted! - Unable to read from disk - Error Code 87 - The parameter is incorrect
Try disabling any such program.
You may well find it easier to perform the restoration by creating MR's bootable disk, booting your PC from that, and then performing the restore. That way Windows isn't running or trying to use the partition you are restoring.
(Naturally you can't restore C: whilst Windows is running).
I am getting the same error 87 if I run it in the macrium bootable recovery media
Thank you for your reply.
Please post screenshots showing what you're trying to restore to where, showing both source and destination.
At what point in the restoration does the message occur? Screenshot please.
Also please test your disks - both source and destination. E.g. Hard Disk Sentinel (excellent) - more basic, Crystal Diskinfo and advise if they pass or not.
If they do, please run
chkdsk X: /scan
on all relevant partitions, changing X to the appropriate drive letter. Note any that fail.
Ohterwise please feel free to research the error message and number.
Note this is not a Macrium support forum. Whilst you can search their forum, if you are a free user you can't post there.
I was able to do it in the recovery system. However, I initially got the same error there. I think at some point I opened the image for editing and that caused the error 87. I fortunately made a backup of the image prior to that. Next problem is getting the profile over. I already wrote a post on that one.
