My Del l 7370 came with a SATA M.2 dirve and I want to upgrade it with a larger NVMe M.2 drive. Using Acronis True Image to clone the drive with all partitions stay as is without any resizing. The resulted drive can not be booted. The system tried to do automatic repair but no luck. Is Acronis the software for the job? Or there are other things I need to pay attention to?
It seems you are trying to use the same port. Itīs not possible to "upgrade" from M.2 SATA to M. 2 PCIe NVMe, unless the port in the mobo supports *both* protocols (that is, detects the SSD type and connects it to the corresponding bus). Check in the computer documentation.

Did you disable sata2 in the bios before installing the NVMe SSD?
I've found references to both disable sata2 and also enable AHCI. I'm not familiar with your bios options, what do you see for sata options?
Did you disable Secure Boot?
What is the make, m/n, & size of the new NVMe SSD?
I've read at least 2 sites that indicate a Dell 7370 is limited to a 512GB drive.
On one Dell site it suggested that all of the above was necessary before installing, coping image or cloning to an NVMe SSD.

Try a "Fix Boot problems" operation with Macrium. If that does not solve the problem, do a new cloning with Macrium, then try again with "Fix Boot Problems" .
I did another clone and is able to make it work. The differences between this one and the previous one are
- install NVMe drive in the laptop
- put SATA drive in a USB case
- boot laptop with Acronis rescue media
- clone drive from USB to internal drive
I guess Acronis rescue tool see the NVMe drive at startup and does cloning little bit different than when I start Acronis with the SATA drive as the boot drive.
