Windows Backup system image error code 0x81000033

I had to rebuild my Windows 10 system drive. I downloaded the current Windows 10 install media, which is for release 21H1 x64, and installed it on a new SSD. It appears that the Backup (Windows 7) in the latest release will no longer backup, although it can restore from a previous backup. The backup seems to go through the effort of backing up all the files, then coughs up an error code 0x81000033 when it attempts to create a system recovery image. It's the system recovery image that's most important to me. I tried using File History when it was first offered years ago in an earlier Windows 10 release, but I found it unreliable. If your boot drive is hosed, your are i deep doodoo. You need a working Windows system to recover files from File History. How can I create a System Recovery Image in 21H1?

    I used:
    Edition Windows 10 Pro
    Version 21H1
    Installed on ‎2021-‎07-‎17
    OS build 19043.1110
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0

    My System:
    Device name xxxxxxxx
    Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz 2.67 GHz
    Installed RAM 24.0 GB
    Device ID DAE0540F-A8CC-4540-B1F1-19832D4BA3B6
    Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA530
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Windows backup is being deprecated & will eventually be removed, what you’re experiencing may be related to that.

Microsoft recommend using third party software:
    “System Image Backup (SIB) Solution
We recommend that users use full-disk backup solutions from other vendors.”
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...cated-features
I recommend moving to third party imaging software now before it is removed permanently if you prefer backing up your PC rather than using File history.
Many users recommend Macrium Reflect free:

No, it isnt related to that.

The message usually means one of the critical volumes you want to backup doesnt have enough space. Likely the small system partition is near full.

I havent used windows system image in windows 11 yet, will give it a go when I have moment. It is encouraging that it is included in win11.

I don't think so, as the files are saved in their native format, but with date-time info added to the file names. You might have to do some work finding the copies you want, and renaming them, but that is all.
