How can I only backup the operating system

    SIW2, you accidentally double-posted :) My guess is that your first submit seemingly "did not go through", so you submitted again.

    Running Paragon backup with only operating system folders runs for a nominal 2 hours and 45 minutes (protected and system folders are only 88GB) updating external disk through USB 3 - not sure it really took .

    That would be an erroneous statement. There are multiple ways of moving the entire users folders and user libraries folder to a separate drive or partition.

    Move Location of Documents Folder in Windows 10

    You can use the same method to move all the library folders such as Downloads, Videos, Music, Desktop, etc.

    I'm with idgat on this idea -- because a Repair Install or a ReInstall very likely will adjust Windows back to default My Documents folder[s] -- it sure does on Windows 7.
