Differential Backup On Cloned Drive (Macrium Reflect)?

I replaced my hard drive, same size. So I cloned it. Can I do a differential backup based on a full image of the original drive using the clone? Using Macrium Reflect Free Edition as my backup software.

Hi, no. You should start a new imaging sequence with a new base (initial) image.

(Good that you're using disk imaging- hopefully of all the O/S partitions - typically 4 for UEFI )

    Thanks.

Btw, one more quick question, with differential backups , is there any harm manually deleting older differential images?

    Hi, no, if you have
    base image
    diff1
    diff2

then you have 3 dates to restore 2.

    Deleting diff1 leaves you 2.

Note that Macrium can readily be set to control the number of image files on your backup disk whe you create the backup job as prompted when you create the first image. You can set it to retain a certain number of image files, older ones being automatically deleted. Get it right, and your backup disk never fills up and you never have to normally think about it, until deleting an obsolete set of images, say.
