Need Help with a Macrium Reflect problem

This is a new one for me and I am stumped.
This morning when I went to my file manager to delete the oldest backup, I noticed that all were dated yesterday and had become CBM files where normal is mrimg,
Not knowing what to do I reinstalled the program and it made no difference.
    So here I am.
We are running Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1
I have no idea how to get out of this mess and would appreciate any help.
Couple of screen captures might help

I can't explain 'how', but I can say that those .CBM files are NOT your images. Just look at their sizes, they're tiny. Almost all are just 131KB. A .mrimg file should be GB, not KB.

On D: you're looking in the wrong place- indeed, by default you wouldn't even see System Volume Information.

Please revert to default - hide all system files and don't unhide hidden files.

If you do this you can see where the backup files should be: (at the bottom):

Note that if they are on an external USB drive this may be allocated a different drive letter depending on what devices you have plugged in.

A good trick to avoid that is before you start using it for images, allocate it a drive letter late in the alphabet, say R.

You could still do that if you modify the backup job to match.

    1 drive per letter.

    Thanks for the reply.
I am totally aware of what you have stated.
I'd love to know what causes it to happen.
    Looking for ideas.

Yes, I use two external drives because I use two backup programs just to be safe. They are not on at the same time.
This system has worked fine for years until June 10.
I can change the drive letters with no problem but let's see if we can solve the problem first.
    Thanks again.

What you need to do is look in the correct place. I have suggested how you can help yourself to do that.

Not System Volume Information. You should not see those files you showed by default at all.

Tell me if something isn't clear.

    Let's make this simple.
    Open file explorer.
Browse the disk where you believe your image files should be.
    Can you see them?

Yeah, but this is the FREE version and it doesn't support it.
Anyway, we have what is probably good luck.
I uninstalled Reflect and reinstalled it. It even gave me an update from earlier this year.
I changed the external drive from "E" to "S".
Ran another backup and ended up with the attached pretty pictures.
Wish I could add the missing ones to the screen capture but since I do backup every day, it should not be a problem.
I also have my second backup program stored there and ready to move.
I'll hold off saying problem is solved.
Thanks everyone. Oh, the most recent backup was the one done at 11:46 A.M.

Ran another backup this morning and everything looks good so I am ready to say it has been solved.
Thank you very much for everything folks.
    Have a wonderful weekend.
