...and quick to rectify the situation and send out the 'lost' keys for those of us hit by the purchasing bug.

I upgraded yesterday. 50% off for Ver 7 users.
I bought two new v7 licences for £31 and upgraded them for free to v8 which was cheaper than the 50% off offer

v8 has actually been in Beta since January, the Beta testers were from outside Macrium and testing was by invite only. Any significant bugs should already have been found and fixed. By the end of the Beta testing over 30 updates had been released and a quite substantial set of release notes had been generated.

As such, I had no hesitation in upgrading my 4-pack of v7 keys to a 4-pack of v8 keys and upgrading all my machines.
They didn't spot the very obvious 'bug' of the tiny menu fonts

That sounds like a good deal. Was that for new customers?
There was a deal for 20% off for new customers which gave a free upgrade to Ver 8 but I didn’t see any other.

Well, I made a backup with V8 before upgrading to 21H1 on main laptop (nightmare). Somehow onedrive glitched and so I reinstalled it but it decided to change my system folders e.g. documents, downloads etc to onedrive instead of local. Tried to change them back to local drive but it complained about document folder not being empty even though it was (i checked for hidden files and hidden system files).

So in end, I gave up and decided to restore using V8 never having tested it.

    It worked first time!

I also tested usb drive backup - worked first time.

Now I have copied all usb drive data, I am going to try a full restore to usb drive.

I used to use win32diskimager to backup usb flash drives but it was slow and inflexible.

Such a joy to user Reflect now!

Also changes to interface are minimal - slightly disappointed that they did not make the screens a bit more friendly for beginners (not issue for me but for noobs, it is a little daunting - they should have an express mode which only gives basics for beginners).

No - I already had two paid for v7 licences too old for the free v8 upgrade. Therefore for £31 I now have two new v8 licences and the two old v7 licenses for reuse on other PCs.

Interesting since I've been using Win32DiskImager to make a working backup SD card for the built in satnav in my car

    Hi there
Any idea if there will be a Free version of V8 -- all I really do is just image my windows OS - I don't need incremental / differential backups for data or even the OS as I run all my data backups via rsync / grsync (GUI version of rync) on a NAS and then from NAS-> external device. Imaging a windows OS if you only have the OS plus installed apps such as office on the OS takes at the most 15 mins so I've no need for all the extra added features such as viboot, guardian etc etc -- which will be of value to loads of others.

Macrium seems a good company and its software always seems to work - so I hope that either V7 will continue to work for basic OS backups - or there will be a free V8 version. I'm OK with CLI stuff so the quality / lack of quality of the GUI that people have previously complained about doesn't really bother me one bit.

    Cheers
