Macrium Reflect CBT

So guys a question about this feature, am I correct that it only benefits image backups not file and folder?

I have read about all sorts of issues on it on Macrium's website and im inclined to turn it off, My Windows image backup is super fast on incrementals already and the only slow backup I have is a file and folder backup of my FF7 mods.

However using the CBT analysis tool is super cool I can see where all write's are occuring on my drives now and finding some interesting things on the windows drive such as the steam html cache been updated when steam hasnt even been started up. O_o

What I have done at the moment is disable CBT in the advanced settings but left the driver on so I can view the data in the tool.

I'd lean toward your first impulse of being inclined to turn it off, if the above 2 sentences are the main considerations. I'd agree with JPHughan's response in that thread---favoring simplicity. I lean toward simplicity as a general rule and therefore don't even use incrementals.

Yep thats my thought also and have actually disabled the CBT driver now, the issues that were reported were scary even if they are all now fixed, thanks.

If this feature boosted f&f I may have kept it on. It takes 20 minutes to scan my ff7 mods folders for changes.

Yes, CBT allows for slightly faster Incrementals... but it's a huge advantage if your Incremental system is backing up very large DataBase type files that change often. Other than that, probably a toss up. Personally, I always use it.

Well i gained godly amounts of performance simply by disabling Control Flow Guard on reflectbin.exe, back to Windows 8 performance now for f&f backups.

FroggyTheGremli but thats just for image backups right? I am still not 100% on if image only. I do understand that for certian workloads CBT is valuable, I think live virtual machines is a use case as well.
