Does File History run while the computer is sleeping?

    20H2 .867

We put our computers to sleep after 1 hour of no use. Every Friday morning I look at the File History drive to make sure it's still working. My wife gets into Quicken on a daily basis, so it's easy to see if her files are being backed up. This morning I looked and her Quicken folder was backed up at 3:34 a.m. I checked her computer it was asleep, and when awakened the time was correct.

    Curious minds want to know.

If you have Wake Timers enabled and you allow processes to "wake" the computer to do their work, they will. Then after they are finished they pull the covers up and go back to sleep!

Thanks. That must be it. I looked at her wake timers, but the results were way above my paygrade.

Shawn has a tutorial here to help see and explain Wake Timers. I think the steps will let you see what's happening. Give it read and a try.

"Allow wake timers" is enabled by default.
Right-click on the Start button --> Windows PowerShell.
Run the following command to see what scheduled tasks can wake the computer:

    Get-ScheduledTask|where{$_.settings.waketorun}|FT -AutoSize

I don't know a command that will pull the covers up.
