Data lost on my backup drive -Minitool disk recovery

Lost ~ 1 TB of data on a 2TB drive. Tried mini tool partition wizard, 12.3 (free) and it "seems" to scan the disk. Disk Recovery runs for several hours and then crashes. It does show ~ 7-8k files it found. Information on their site says that only Pro has that capability, yet Free seems to do something?

Question is: Anybody tried Mini Tool Partition Wizard Pro and had success? Don't want to do a $130 experiment and find out it does not work. Tx for any info

There are plenty of data recovery tools around. E.g. Recuva free.

First start by checking the disk... there may be a reason things have gone.

E.g. Hard Disk Sentinel (trial)- great program, simple report, right on its GUI.

Lost the data only, but not the partition?

    Or both?

Some tools work on one, but not the other.

There is a free version you can try powerdatarecovery 6.5 search tinternet for it.

I am pretty sure it is included in this boot media 183x64.iso

Otherwise you can run active @filerecovery, if it finds your stuff, you can then buy the license which is $25 last time I looked

Given that......I'd deliberately avoid "data recovery" for the time being.

    Concentrate on "partition recovery".

If the partition is recoverable, the data should be there and intact.

Member Jumanji is the local guru on that stuff.

Maybe he will see this thread.

I just checked. Not sure why, but I didn't include the free mintool pdr or the free mintool partition recovery in that iso.
