    MR7 free (W10 20H2) - index verification failed

I’ve been using Macrium Reflect 7 (free) for couple months with zero problems until yesterday.
Feb 25 MR7 FULL image (3 partitions); no error or failure. [2012 Dell only has 3 partitions; never altered]
Feb 26 MR7 FULL image (3 partitions); ‘index verification failed’. Second attempt had same result.

I've used Norton Ghost 15 for 8-years; so AFTER MR7 problem; used my G15 boot CD to make a FULL image (same 3 partitions), and to Verify recovery point after creation. G15 had no error or failure.

Is there a method to correct MR7 ‘index verification failed’ problem? The only difference between Feb 25 & 26 >> 2021-02 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2 for x64 (KB4601554) was successfully installed on Feb 26 [prior to Feb 26 MR7 'Backup aborted'].

My Passport Ultra - 1000GB, USB3. My Passport was not disconnected between MR7 'Backup Aborted' and 'G15 image with verify'. The 2 MR7 Full 'backup aborted' images on Feb 26 were started at 17:10:12 and 18:50:14. G15 Full image was few hours later around midnight. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, this seems to indicate a problem with reading the backup drive, which I think in your case is
    My Passport Ultra - 1000GB, USB3.
I suggest you run some tests on that, and check the cable/connector/port and try swapping these for comparison.

    See e.g.
    Suddenly verifiation produces various errors

    https://support.macrium.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10820
    gives a different slant:

The 'Index verification failed' message indicates that the meta data at the back of the image file could not be written. We have had some reports of this happening due to AV software attempting to scan the file and grabbing an exclusive lock just prior to Reflect flushing the index. Annoyingly, if the file is on a network share it could be caused by any PC on the network that has access to the shared folder.

Please can you check that .mrimg files are white-listed on all networked PC's.
    - although the problem seemed to be something else.

Dalchina is correct. The problem is not that the verification finds a problem in the image, it's that the system can't read the image at all from your backup drive. It's as if the drive has become disconnected. Your screenshot repeatedly says 'The system cannot find the path specified'.

I tried a few things today.
    • ~2PM; MR7 boot CD; USB3 port; USB3 cable; My Passport Ultra >> Image & verification completed successfully.
    • ~5PM; MR7 & Windows 10; USB3 port; USB3 cable; My Passport Ultra >> Index verification failed
    • ~7PM: MR7 & Windows 10; USB2 port, no USB cable; My Passport Ultra >> Image & verification completed successfully. print screen below

[Four USB3 ports are on back of desktop, can't get to a PC USB3 port without pulling PC out of computer desk, so use USB3 cable. Two USB2 ports on front of desktop.]
Probably buy new USB3 cable, use USB2 port on front of PC for now and see how that goes. Thanks
