Should I copy my Win10 image to my new computer

Currently I have a 2015 NUC i7 computer that is running fine. With Acronis 2016, I have a current image of C:, the program/application drive.

A new NUC i7 is arriving with Windows 10 Pro installed. I'd like not to have to reinstall all of the programs/applications and just copy the old Image to the new, but I foresee some problems if that happened.

Advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I am getting a USB with the install on it that may/could be of assistance if I get things too screwed up. Though most of my work is done in the Windows world, I do admire Apple's approach to handling the addition of a new computer - however they are in a closed system.

If both version of Windows are the same version I don't see why it won't work. Back in February I swapped a drive out from a broken laptop to another for my sister-n-law and it worked including the activation. Both laptops were running Windows 10 Home. Make sure you make a image of the new computer to a external drive first.

Do you have a favorite "image maker"? For backup, I use Acronis making an image for my backups, but have not tried it for a "one up".

I use Macrium Reflect. I never had luck with the clone feature. I don't use the cloning feature because I always had boot problems with the clone. I use the imaging feature and have had great success when doing a image restore.

I use Macrium Reflect for imaging and cloning.

Thank you all for the encouragement to get Macrium! So much simpler to use that Achronis. Now a learning curve.
