Macirum Reflect Free Quick Little Question

If i Decide to ever go back to Free version if still offered, and not purchase another Home Version license in the future, currently using a 4 pack, with Keys in use for 3 systems, 4th Key not in use right now.

So would it be wise to use that in the future, or go back to free edition when Version 7 expires, or should i try to afford Home Edition 4 pack for the systems again?

It's a simple matter of what features you need. If home version has features you need that free edition does not have, then purchase the home edition.

Why do you need or want the paid version rather than the free version?

Well i upgraded to Paid Version last April or May, forget exactly when, then was thinking can i really afford to upgrade again with another 4 pack to get Version 8 when it releases, Free was working fine for needs prior to that, i just decided to buy it for some reason, i guess to support the company finally after using free for a long while

Free version is good for occasional backups but it lacks basic features that IMHO would be absolutely necessary for anyone serious about doing backups of important data. For example, you can't even do incremental backups with the free version.

Naturally, each person will have different needs. In my case I have lots of important data and a real backup plan with backups created every single day are a must.

You can find a chart comparing features here:

    Yeah

    Redeploy
    Folder and file backup.
    Incremental

To me all important features, but the free is probably good enough for some people and it is good Macrium have a free version.

Your v7 Home will never expire, the license is perpetual. We still see posts on TF from members who are happily using licensed copies of v6.

You can continue to use v7 Home for as long as you want (or until a Windows update makes it no longer compatible). Macrium continue to issue essential updates for older versions after the next version is released, only ending support for a particular version when that becomes impractical. For v5 its useful life ended with the release of W10 version 1903.

Windows 10 1903, included a breaking file system change that prevented imaging of the system volume (C:). We caught the issue in a preview build, releasing a fix for both v7 and v6. Read more here,

Unfortunately, the age of the v5 codebase prevented backporting the fix. We have made decision, therefore, to offer direct v5 to v7 upgrades....

V6 however has had several updates after the v7 launch in Feb. 2017, its most recent update was on 8th May 2019.

    What's New 6.3.1865 - 8th May 2019
This update adds support for Windows 10 1903 ...

I am in the same situation as you, I bought a 4-pack of v7 Home over a year ago. But I have more than 4 PCs and run Free on the others. I'll upgrade one of them to v8 Free when it comes out, just to see if it's worth upgrading my paid-for licences. There will be a discount for upgrades, for the previous v6-v7 upgrade the offer was 50%.

Yeah might do that as well, convert one of the 3 systems to Free when V8 Comes out, then see about upgrading if it's worth it for the paid licenses probably best bet at this point.

Currently doing weekly backup on the systems today

*except after i finished Desktop backup early this morning lol, bought a newer game for Birthday today lol, so guess maybe will redo the Game SSD image maybe lol later, once laptop is done with it's two drives lol*

Learned my lesson years ago when i didn't backup anything at the time, and got a severe system infection, and lost alot of important files, and such.

These days very careful what i download, make sure scan with Defender weekly, Malwarebytes Weekly, Emisoft Emergency kit, so far so good on staying clean lol, more so than when i was using Avast Free for many years, and actually alot less system crashes, and issues.

If i had more cloud storage, i'd probably backup a ton more to Onedrive, but don't really have the upload speed to backup more there, do keep a second 4tb external enclosure at a family members place, and rotate between my normal 8tb drive, and 4tb drive every 2 weeks, or when i can get over there
