How do I do a clean install of Windows on a laptop in recovery mode?

One of my laptops is in recovery mode but I don't the time or patience to try to recover the system to what it was and then install all the various updates. Since there is no important data on that laptop, I'd like to abandon the old data and just bring the laptop up to the present and essentially start fresh as if it's a brand-new laptop. What is my best way to do that?

I'm thinking I should create an image of Windows 10 Version 20H2 on a CD or DVD and then install that. Would that be reasonable? If so, can someone point me to the directions for doing that? I would use the laptop that I'm typing this message on to make the CD/DVD.

My big concern is the product key. Will this be a problem? I don't know what the key on the ailing laptop is or how to obtain it or even if I'll need it. What do I do about the key?

Install the same edition of Windows 10 that was on it before and you can skip entering the product key.

If the computer was updated / upgraded the Windows 10 license should be on Microsoft servers.

You can reset remove files, clean install, or widows refresh:

    Reset Windows 10
    Clean Install Windows 10
    Refresh Windows 10
