    What Could Cause All Restore Points to be Deleted

    Windows 10 Pro - 2004, OS Build: 19041.685
    These 2 available Updates *Not* installed
    KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.85
    KB4598242 2021-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems
    ~~~~~
    Howdy Folks!
    As I was setting my daily System Restore Point I found all previous ones have been deleted. Other than the highly unlikely possibility I deleted them by mistake, I'm seeking what else could have caused this to happen.
    Thanks in advance to all who read this and to those who reply!
    Going from memory..........I think that certain Windows Updates have been known to cause this. Happened to me a few months back.
    Not sure if there is a solution other than to start making new restore points.
    System Restore isn't highly reliable anyway, so you might consider some other backup plan, although it can certainly help at times. I find I just don't need it as often as I did under Windows 7.
    Right, the twice-yearly Version Upgrades do delete the older System Restore Points as the changes the Upgrades make, and some Build updates, invalidate those points, could cause a disaster if restored on the newer setup.
    Agree. I certainly used it much more with Windows 7; I continue making daily Restore Points out of habit and "you never know in advance when one might be useful to have."
    Whenever something unusual happens I do my best to understand what caused it.
    I'm good with weekly Macrium Reflect Images as so many here recommend.
    Thanks to both; leaving this Unsolved for any other comment in the next day or so.
    There have been some issues with System Restore points going missing.
    I've seen it happen myself.
    Apart from that, most imaging applications don't backup System Restore points by default, so if you have recently restored your system, you will likely not see any System Restore points.
    Windows deletes any Restore point that is no longer valid because of subsequent changes to the OS.
    I thought this info was buried somewhere within https://docs.microsoft.com/windows/w...restore-portal but I can't find it at the moment.
