Any reason to upgrade from SyncBack Free to Pro version?

What is Pro version offering that is worth upgrading from Free?

I have seen compare lists, but not sure, what are major differences (being new user).

So far, I have found that Free version is not keeping Folder timestamps.

I looked briefly at Pro and found nothing I needed.

Per my answers to you yesterday, Free version appears to keep time stamps on my PC.

Or do I misunderstand what you want?

You need to wade through the SyncBackFree configuration and/or help file to find any controls that govern time stamps.

Have you seen either of the following screens?

    1. It looks that SyncBack Free keeps timestamps for files - but NOT for folders. I have tried Free version and all of the source folders timestamps were changed in backup.

    2. What will happen when the computer is off during a SyncBack planned schedule? Will it catch up as soon as we start the computer?

5 minutes ago, I ran my "all data" SyncBackFree profile.

Below is a pic of the folder properties of a random folder in the backup destination.

Created date May 20, 2016............the same as it was 20 minutes ago before I ran the profile.

I assume you are referring to something else? Or?

Re schedules: I have no idea.

I have no interest in them as I don't want to be lulled into complacency by so-called "automation". I run stuff manually only and at will.

I expect SyncBackFree to jump when I say "frog" and it does.

    @ignatzatsonic
    Thank you for your help.

    1. Just finished the first use of SyncBack. Antivirus was preventing some files to be copied. After disabling antivirus, mirror was successful, but number of files/folders on source and destination are different. How to resolve this? Should I run again “Mirror” or change to “Backup” option? Screenshot attached.

Log file was OK with just (2 warnings): “Cannot get date and time of file: KOI-15A.CDR”?

    2. What is preferred for Android Backup: SyncBack Touch or Media Transfer Protocol?

I see that you are using the Pro version now. Does it have anything useful to you not found in Free? I've never even given it a trial run.

Re difference between file count on source versus destination:

I'm not sure that anything needs to be resolved. SyncBackFree by design does NOT copy all files. See pic below. Similarly, applications like Macrium Reflect don't back up ALL system files.

Right now, my data drive supposedly has 99732 files. My "all data" SyncBackFree backup that I ran an hour ago has 99737 files. That's normal. I don't agonize over the difference. I've never been unable to find a file on the target drive that I expected to find there.

And....Windows File Explorer has it's own weird peculiarities re file counts, file sizes, space used, space remaining, etc. It will drive you crazy if you can't just accept it as Windows being Windows.

Mirror versus Backup: Mirror is a replica; if dog.jpg is deleted from source, it is deleted from target. "Backup"?? I don't know what that is....maybe it means if dog.jpg is deleted from source it is kept on target? I don't use it and have no interest in it. If that's what it means and that's what you want, use it. If not, don't.

I know nothing about androids. Nothing. Aren't they robots?

You should always experiment with a new profile. Obviously, a profile can have disastrous results if you think it's going to do A and it does B.......like deleting from the source or not keeping versions if you don't use mirroring. Don't let it surprise you, so test.

SyncBackFree may have defects.....I've just never encountered them.

It is NOT my only means of backup for that reason.

I have perhaps twice had an error in the log file, out of thousands of runs. Never anything of consequence that I couldn't figure out. I'm not sure what would happen if a file were corrupted and unreadable. Maybe it would be bypassed?
