    Hi Keith.
What a mess I had this morning! And it was further complicated with a VPN in the mix, and a new router to boot. I have a new NIC in this rig now, the VPN is removed, the router is stabilized, and everything appears to be working well.

I looked at the properties of both disks, and the amount of data on each was very close, so it looked like the clone finished, and the difference was a few files I had downloaded after the clone had begun, which I intended to manually transfer over later. But, to be safe, I ran a Robocopy of all folders from source to destination, and it ran very fast. I had one issue, where the message said "unable to write to source" for a folder which had about 5 items in it. Afterwards, I checked the destination: all files were there; everything appeared to be intact, so I am not sure why I got the message from Robocopy about that. But everything else appears to be fine - Robocopy did not have to copy anything, just check, verify and go on to the next item.

Do you think I should still run the clone again and start from scratch? I've opened documents, photos, PDFs and various other files, and they've all been intact. I think I'm good to go. I've put the destination drive in the system, replacing the source drive, and it seems to all be in good shape. But you've got me worrying about this "sector copy" issue....
I'm just not sure @simrick. The problem with sector copy is that you may have some partial files. I don't know how good Robocopy would be in identifying those but that may be why Robocopy threw a hissy fit on that folder. The safest thing would be to do it over. Sorry Simrick.

    Hi.
Well, I took your advice and re-ran the clone. It completed successfully!
Then I started a new File & Folder backup, because I was already having issues/failures and recoveries with the current one, ever since I updated to version 8. I had a ticket open with Macrium, but they couldn't figure out the problem, and suggested I just start new, so I did.

All that being done now, finally, and I have everything working. Now to update my system! (Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment!)

I thought I heard that 21H1 breaks printing - is that true?

    Thanks for your help!

That's good to know. I remember a printing problem a year or so ago, but don't have anything on a printing problem for this year. Still, I've just spent 4 hours on an HP printer and can't get the thing to print for nothing!

The last printing known issue I can find was this one in 2004/20H1...

After installing updates released March 9, 2021 or March 15, 2021, you might get unexpected results when printing from some apps. Issues might include:

    • Elements of the document might print as solid black/color boxes or might be missing, including barcodes, QR codes, and graphics elements, such as logos.
    • Table lines might be missing. Other alignment or formatting issues might also be present.
    • Printing from some apps or to some printers might result in a blank page or label.

Actually it affected all versions of Windows that got a Patch Tuesday update in March, including Windows 8. Got fixed long before 21H1 was released.

KB5003637 update is causing printer problems and breaking the taskbar in Windows 10 some have experienced printing problems after June KB.

Thanks Bree, you've confirmed what I thought/remembered. Not sure why this printer is acting up - it's not that old: an HP Envy AIO 7855 bought about 14 months ago. Printer works with a cell phone, it's on the network, the computer see it and loads the drivers, but it will not print. Errors out when I try to scan. I am baffled.

I have 21H1 & it didn't cause any more problems with my HP Officejet printer than I already had. For some reason, I have to unplug it, wait for it to shut down, & then plug it in to get it to connect...but I've had that problem since 2017.
