I downloaded the trial version instead of trying to use an earlier download.
That's exactly what I did after trying to update from V7 which ended up being a mess. After @phrab was so kind to buy me license I just entered it and now I can keep on using it licensed.
On the Windows insider disk, I had to completely uninstall v7 upgraded to "free" v8 before reinstalling fully updated v7. I'll keep it at v7 until such time Macrium releases free v8. My W10 insider is experimental as well as "spare/second" OS on this PC anyway and v7 and 8 are compatible.

Developed - probably not. Supported - almost certainly yes. Reflect v7 was released on 27 Feb. 2017....

    Attachment 335398

...since then v6 has had seven updates, the most recent on 8 May 2019 when W10 1903 broke both v5, v6 and v7.

    Attachment 335400

That also marked the end support for v5, as the modifications couldn't be ported back into the v5 codebase..

    Thanks for the details!

It's as usual safer to move to a more recent version if the OS your using also does that.
But in case you're sure one version is supported, like you noted, then you can still use it.

You're welcome. I had looked them up once before, when v8 was first announced.

On another thread, Wynnona has found an official statement from Macrium: it is their policy to fully support each version for a year after the release of a new one. Though that last v6 update was over two years after v7's release, so they may make an exception.

    Great info there from Wynona.

I first thought, a while ago, that v8 Free won't be released... 90 days of patience is fine.

Note to myself: always read the details...

I bought two new v7 keys just before v8 was released for only £31 then upgraded them for free to v8. This was cheaper than upgrading my existing v7 keys with the 50% off offer.
I didn't make any calculations about this, but the difference could not have been that great. I will just take your word for it.

    Thanks again for the links.
In worst case I was planning to stick with v7 for a while.
But all looks promising for v8 now.

I just installed the 30 day trial of Macrium v8.0.5946.
I selected the Dark-Blue theme and it is looking good.
Fonts look fine with my 80 year old eyes.
Made a new Rescue USB stick.
Did a Image backup and all is good.

In 30 days it will revert back to V7 Free.

When I created this thread, its final name became Macrium Reflect 8 Update Discussion.

Now that MR 8 has been released, and there will be some who continue to use MR 7 so maybe a "rename" is in order once again.

    I'm thinking maybe . . .
