Having some fun with MR8 and taking advantage of payed, registered version.
Adjusted automatic backup schedule, one full system disk backup first Monday in a month keeping one backup and deleting previous one. Although marked to clean older one before starting new backup it doesn't clear previous one immediately but only after backup is finished. It also clears/deletes all incremental and differential backups which of course makes sense. Good logic indeed.
Elected to keep last 3 of differential and incremental backups. For starters, I run all 3 backups now and will leave it on auto for now (except if some other occurrence warrants new manual backup). all backup files are also copied to another, external USB connected HDD. That I do manually anyway. Two eggs in two baskets you know !
Still I have no opinion which is more important, incremental or differential so as I have no problem with disk capacity, I elected to do both.

Not necessarily, two of mine updated without asking for a restart. Whether you need a restart depends on what services you may have running and whether of not those services got patched in this update. Common culprits include the Scheduler, CBT or Image Guardian. I run the last two of those, so it wasn't them this time round.
I don't have Image Guardian installed and don't use scheduling or CBT (only do full image backups).
It's the first time in ages that MR has required a restart after patching...

Strange Macrium 8 media creation issue

    Hmm...

Using latest build of MR 8.

Used a 8GB 3.0 USB Flash Drive to create Rescue Media with Macrium 8.
Says that it needed to format the USB stick, said OK and it did the build.

I then checked the drive - it is now listed as 1 GB capacity with 250 MB+ free.

    Why?

    TIA

There was an option in the defaults of V7 that required you to do a restart after each pacth. Not sure if that carried forward.

I think v7 did that too, if it needed to format the USB. MR only formats as a last resort, if the USB is already using MBR and formatted as Fat32 it just copies the files over and marks the partition Active.

Why 1GB? Because that's all MR needs. The rest of the drive is left unallocated so you can create your own partition to use it, keeping MR and your files safely separated.

That option just restarted Reflect if you had it open before applying the patch. And yes, same option is in v8.

It did carry forward and perhaps explains why I had to restart...

I originally formatted the USB as ExFat. Guess MR didn't like that.

No, that's not the reason. That option will restart Reflect after the patch, if you already had it open. Not restart the PC. I have it ticked on all mine, and they didn't require the OS to restart.

Don't think he said he had to restart OS.
