It was a bit like that in v7.1 (the first version I used) though in v7.n it was a lot easier to untick the box that forced the use of the ID as the default name.

But once I had set up my backup definitions, I never needed to created any new ones. I just edited the original one to change the file name, or made a copy of it then edited that if I needed a new one. The ID never got put back against my wishes, nor does it now when I edit them in v8.

I just leave the generated ID and let the folder name identify the backup sets. If I need a description of what it is for I put it in the comments.

I have too many machines, and for some (like System Two below, my test machine) I have multiple images, each with different versions of Windows.

I prefer to leave out the Image ID and for some years now have manually named my Full images as 'PC name, Windows version, date of backup in ISO 8601 date format'.

All of that can now be done automatically in v8.

Anyone know how to sort via the 'Existing Backups' column headings?

Only images for backup drives that are currently connected will be shown. When you are in the 'Backup Sets' view then the image files are shown as a tree structure showing their relationship to their respective Full images. The only 'sort' that can be done in this view is by the drive path. To sort by any other column you need to switch 'View As' to the 'Backup Files' view, then you can sort by any column, eg: by Date.

Whichever view you choose for Existing Backups, Reflect remembers your choice and will use that view next time you open Reflect.

I noticed its out, I updated Macrium on my laptop to a new build of v7, where the changelog stated a vagur minor improvements.

Then on restarting the latest v7, its offering me to update to v8 (for free), I will wait a little while though to see if people report any nasty problems. Hopefully I am ok with the new font, as I do feel the UI in v7 (and in v6) is nailed on, perfect font size, icons etc. meaning there is a fair chance I will feel the new UI is a regression.

I do hope the accuracy and faster respons of/in the resque-media will be ( much ?) better then it was in 7-version .
This is , imo, more important then the UI .............

First change the view from "backup sets" to "backup files" then you can click on the column you want to sort on.

I set scheduled daily Differential backup with option to keep last 3 and delete rest at start.
