Existing Backups seems a weird name to me, I suggest "Manage Existing Backups" instead. Backup and Restore not sure how that would confuse users either. It is a shame this isnt a public beta but instead invite only, frustrating only been able to give feedback when it no longer matters as once this goes gold everything will be set in stone.
As I mentioned above, a full Public Beta never really works. The purpose of a Beta is to take a fully defined project task list (no more changes) and implement it followed by specific testing. A Public Beta is not a place for user suggestions for changes... that needs to be made waaaaay before a product design and testing phase, most likely during a product definition phase. That why Product Developers offer feedback forums after a product release... they wanna know what works, what doesn't, what needs to be changed to make the product more palatable and useful. That's their input for product design/change... you just can't do that during testing.

I would suggest using their Forums to provide your product feedback... that's the place you can really make a difference.

That's certainly the case for v7 (I have more machines than licences, so I run both Home and Free). There's no reason to think v8 will be any different.

Lots of discussion over many months.

Any signs that V8 is imminent in Home version?

The thing about back-up and recovery is that you never know whether it works until disaster strikes. I had the main rival (for some reason touted heavily by IT press) for many years but after a few failures in recovery I finally gave up with them. So far Macrium has not let me down either in free or paid version.

I must say I am slightly nervous about installing the new version when it does arrive but as a curious person, early adopter and fan of Macrium I am sure I will be there on day one.

Is there a date set yet for Home launch?

The Frog here has an Inside Ear, so this may be as close as you get. Mid-May.

I'll buy v8 a month or so after release after perusing the experience of users here!
The only problem with that, Steve, is that you will pay more for v.8.

Why? Macrium frequently offers significant discounts on their products and they gave me a discount code when I asked for one.

    Hi there
Sorry - but that shouldn't be true. With ANY backup / restore software you should certainly the first time its installed test it by backing up and restoring. You should also do a bare metal stand alone restore.

If you don't have a spare machine or can't swap HDD's / SSD's easily then at least test it in a Virtual Machine.
You should also test recovery every so often. It's not hard to do -- on a modern systems if you have your OS sensibly organised an OS image backup should only take around 15 mins (and about the same for restore).

I'm sure people have said Ad Nauseam to take regular backups (and check them) - amazing how many don't and then even on these Forums where people are more computer literate than most there's zillions of posts asking for help on lost / damaged data.

    Cheers

Indeed, always test it, even if on a VM.

I remember when I tested ZFS disaster scenario by yanking hdd's out of a live system, beat the system hard to get confidence in it.
