But the MR8-internal scheduler is much, much simpler, and there's no need for any other script, batch, or other program. Now the question that occurs to me is whether member perkinw has been using the MR8 scheduler all along, and getting no visible evidence that his scheduled runs are actually running. I hope that's not the case.
If it is minimise to the hidden part of the system tray then he may not notice.

Before it starts on backup schedule a small window pops up with few seconds timer until it runs out or you can click on Start. Then it pops up message that backup is started and at the end that it succeeded. It's also in notifications on taskbar. That's enough for me.

Yes, MIke, but you can kill that pop-up in Advanced Settings, Advanced Settings [yes, that's right, the Advanced Backup Settings item in the menus you get in Defaults > Advanced Settings (Display ...)], and even if he has that thing popping up, his problem of not being able to check to see whether time-consuming backups are currently running persists.

We've complained about that "Backup has started ... Backup succeeded" thing earlier in this thread (just before we started taking about airplanes, and just after we finished talking about HP printers.

To kill it there's an option in that windows to check "Don't show again".

True. I'd forgotten about that. But the "Advanced Settings >Advanced Backup Settings >Display backup notification" lets you set the length of the notification display, as well as turn it on or off. I was just pointing that control out to anyone who hadn't noticed it, not to you, Mike.

Yes Dan, I set it to do incremental every day at 9AM and differential at 9.15 and like to see if it really stated and finished although when I catch it, I click on OK to do it immediately. This morning I started MR just to see if it would show me progress bar or something but it didn't.

Whoops! Do you mean you started a backup running and it didn't show an icon in the tray or on the bar? And did you try the C+A+M combo to show the progress bar?

That’s strange. I schedule 2 incrementals every night. When it gets ready to start, there’s a pop up that I can either ignore or pause or cancel the backup. Then MR minimizes to the notification area. There I can click on it to give me a progress bar. If I use Ctl+Alt+M, it brings up the same window that you would get by double clicking the last log file.

I'll try that tomorrow morning. Keeping MR open didn't help.

That's exactly how it's supposed to work. Would you take a look at How can I monitor a running Macrium Reflect backup? and see whether you can help the OP out?
