    Macrium Reflect question:
Will v7 still be developed / supported as Free edition?
I read that somewhere on the site.

    Guess I'll try v8 now.
Home edition sounds interesting to buy now for the new options but also as a thank you. I used v7 Home for free for years and always was pleased with how it worked.
V7 home will continue to get support for some time if past upgrades are anything to go by. It will still be the only free version for at least 90 days anyway until V8 free is released and I expect it to be supported well past that date.

    Thank you Keith!
That makes it clear to me.

Developed - probably not. Supported - almost certainly yes. Reflect v7 was released on 27 Feb. 2017....

...since then v6 has had seven updates, the most recent on 8 May 2019 when W10 1903 broke both v5, v6 and v7.

That also marked the end support for v5, as the modifications couldn't be ported back into the v5 codebase..

Windows 10 1903, included a breaking file system change that prevented imaging of the system volume (C:). We caught the issue in a preview build, releasing a fix for both v7 and v6. Read more here,

Unfortunately, the age of the v5 codebase prevented backporting the fix.

Hey all, I'm using v7 free, does the free v8 install over 7 or separately?

Macrium 8 free won't be released until some 90 days after the release date of Macrium 8 paid version. And yes, the v.8 free version will probably install over the v.7 version.

The v8 Home certainly installed directly over my v7 and retained all my settings, backup definitions and logs. As the only difference between the Free and paid-for installers is the key it installs, then I'd expect the same to apply once v8 Free is officially released.

The reason I ask is because I found a link at macrium for 8.0.5945 free version. File checks out.
