Right, but that one's for general chatter. This one is for MR 8 specifically.

Of course! Totally separate subjects and topics. Puts a bump in Set Theory, but posters will figure out which of the 3 threads to post in, or not post in, or maybe just start a new thread. Interesting how one of the first comments in your October thread is a query on when V8 will be out. Maybe you could cross-link them, or move V8 questions/comments from there to here.

Or, maybe @Brink could merge them? And leave the title at Macrium Reflect 8 Update Discussion. Best of all worlds.

As an aside, there's no way anyone can stop the "spamming" of the original Macrium Update thread. Just gonna hafta live with it, I guess. Unless there's a way to move off-topic posts over here . . .

I have 5 v7 licences (only use 3 in fact). I will upgrade 1 on main pc immediately. Others will stay on V7 till next Black Friday (assuming deal is repeated). V7 will still be supported for at least 1year (maintenance only) based on V6/V7 upgrade.

Do not know what features will be in V8 but ones I would like

    a) ability to select which partition autosize when restoring to different size drive. With change of recovery partition after C drive, this no longer works automatically as not last partition but you can manually resize it.

    b) More logical layout of incremental/differential backup menus. At moment you have to select restore, choose a full backup then select to do an incremental or differential backup (you can use xmls of course). More logical to select full backup from backup menu

    c) simplified beginner menu. AOMEI is easier for beginners really.

    d) support for backing up usb flash drives.

On the original Macrium Updates thread @CountMike has posted another screenshot of the '20% off + free upgrade to v8' offer. I can only assume that it must have been a screenshot of an email, as the exact text cannot be found anywhere in a web search. It contains one significant extra bit of info, not found on the offer page: Macrium Software | Christmas Promotion

The new bit is that the offer expires on 7th January 2021.

Ok guys, I just got done talking with Jack from Macrium Reflect on prices.
    This is there USA division...

For existing registered users, it will be cheaper for those folks by about 50% These are for the Home users, not the Business users. Price for the home registered users will also be cheaper to free ....depending on how OLD there license is.
Jack said that the main company has not given them the complete details yet on pricing. So like for me who has had my license since V7 was 1st released, it will cost me between 30 to 40 dollars ....somewhere in that range.

Hope this info is helpful to everyone .....Does not sound like too bad of a price to me for registered owners of 7.

    Note:
If your version 7 license is say 3 or 4 months old, it may be FREE for you folks...

The way it worked last time (upgrade v6 to v7) was that if you were a business customer with current Support and Maintenance you were entitled to a free upgrade. If you had v6 Home and bought it within three months of the release of v7, then you were also entitled to a free upgrade.

As the '20% off with free v8 upgrade' was first spotted on 17th December, that suggest an intended release date of 17th March 2021.

Upgrading to Macrium Reflect v7 from an existing v6 Installation with a free upgrade key.
Free upgrades to v7 from v6 are available to customers with an active Support and Maintenance subscription and for v6 keys purchased on or after 26th November 2016.

For those like me who purchased v7 Home long ago the other option is to purchase an upgrade key. Hopefully they'll email me an offer too good to turn down

You can enter your purchased v6 to v7 upgrade license key directly into your Macrium Reflect v6 installation. This process will automatically upgrade your v6 key without you having to type it in again in the +installer.

...just wonder if there will still be a free edition ?

I would expect so. The Free edition is probably one of the best marketing tools Macrium have.

How many of us have started with Free, only to buy Home later? I know I did, not so much for the Premium features, more to show support for such a good and well supported product.

Yes Jack also told me the same thing Bree ......but I'm just a home user.

So far the only known new features are a new Dark Theme UI element, and viBoot support for Vitualbox, as evidenced here:
