    SSD won't boot after clone

    Hi all,
I have cloned several SSDs in the past without trouble, but this time I am stuck. I cloned the original Toshiba hard drive using Macrium Reflect to a new Samsung SSD. And it appeared to clone everything correctly.
I then powered off my computer and swapped out the hard drive replacing it with my newly cloned SSD on the same SATA connector. When I powered back on the system would show a black screen with the Dell logo and just get stuck there forever.
So I was trying to figure out what I might need to do. I saw some posts on here when googling for solutions, so I thought I would try sharing my info and see if anyone can see something that I need to do to get things to work. I am using Win10 version 2004.
I have the screen shots from macrium and from disk managment tool to try to help provide some more information.
If there is anything else I can do or share to help, please let me know, I have been trying different things off and on for several weeks, and am about ready to give up and just say it won't work.

    1. The disk management image looks OK
    2. The Macrium GUI image looks suspicious to me as all partitions are listed primary and if the only OS is Windows 10 that should not be the case.
    3. Many Anti Virus programs can corrupt the clone although it reports successful in Macrium
    4. As you have a Samsung SSD I would use Samsung Software and not Macrium - Macrium good as it is, does not IMHO have the same success rate as Samsung.
    5. Does the Dell AIO have the capability to clone to the new SSD in the internal SATA port or has it to be connected USB
    6. Can you enter setup to ensure boot is from clone and not still from removed Toshiba
    7. Problem could be the SSD and the system not seeing that drive

    I suggest you see this
    https://s3.ap-northeast-2.amazonaws....evision_v4.pdf

and then go here and download your Samsung Data Migration
SSD Tools & Software | Download | Samsung V-NAND SSD | Samsung Semiconductor Global Website

IF YOU have not already done so and wish to try it boot with Macrium Rescue medium and try that to see if it will fix it.

I prefer to use imaging rather than cloning. You could image the original installation using Reflect to another drive, install the new SSD, boot to the Reflect USB recovery drive then recover the image to the new SSD.

Boot from the Macrium recovery medium and use the 'fix boot' link.

    Thanks, Macboatmaster.
I will try to redo that using the Samsung one. I did that before and it failed with some error. I don't recall what it was now. And I will double check that the anti-virus is turned off when I run it this time.
I am having to clone to the SSD while connected to USB. There is only one SATA slot inside.
At one point I know that I checked that it was booting from my SSD when it was the one that was installed. and I entered the BIOS and it said it saw the Samsung SSD drive, so that was positive. But I will try to re-clone and take some more notes this time...

And Steve C, thanks as well. I believe I tried once to do the imaging, but I think when I did it, I had imaged it with both drives out of the computer I was using, and I found out later that was bad, so I don't think I fully explored doing that. If this fails using the Samsung clone tool, I will give your imaging process a shot and see if I can't get that to work.

I will report back after I get some time to try these.

If the disk drives are not yet fixed please run:

DiskParInfo.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file

As I said I suggest, if you have not before you start trying - imaging or reclone you try
IF YOU have not already done so and wish to try it boot with Macrium Rescue medium and try that to see if it will fix it. UEFI/GPT system of course.
