Jump starting after failedl Windows update

My power went out during a Windows update. Now when I start the computer it continually says "Updating ...." for hours.

Is there a way to use a thumb drive to jump start and going to the last restore point? Safe mode? I assume Windows Update intentionally makes restore points with every update.

    TIA

Hi, anything could have been corrupted in that scenario.

I hope you have followed the oh, so very often given about using disk imaging routinely and regularly so YOU can restore your system relatively quickly and easily - e.g. Macrium Reflect (free- paid) + large enough external storage for your imaged Windows and any other partition.

It is highly probably that you will need to do a clean install, having verified the integrity of your disks(s).

You can create a bootable Win 10 installation medium (e.g. flash drive) boot your PC from that, click 'Repair your computer' and so to Advanced Startup options - one of which is System Restore.

You will need your password (even if you normally use a PIN).

Note that if the update was, in fact, an upgrade, System Restore is irrelevant as has been explained here numerous times (e.g. by me).

Even if you succes in booting again, you will need to do integrity checks on all disks and partitions.
