Macrium Reflect Unknown Error Error Code = 9 after Upgrade to Win10

    Good Morning all.

Recently (couple of weeks ago) Upgraded to Win10 Pro 19042.630 (Version 20H2) from Win7 Pro and discovered since them my Full Disk Image in Macrium Reflect (Version 5.3.5321, believe is newest) are failing. All I get is an "Unknown error. - Error code = 9" in Reflect with no other indications, including nothing in Event Viewer. Searching the Forums/Internet I know earlier versions of Windows/Macrium had this issue but it was fixed (at least back then but appears to have returned). I am running the Free Version and have been successfully for about a year so am unable to Open a Support Ticket or Register for their Forum's to Post there, hoping someone here can help.

1TB SSD Hard Drive is Split into the Following: Partion 1 (OEM Partition), Partition 2 (Active, Recovery Partition), C:, D:, E:, & F:. Through troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to an issue with Partition 2. If I uncheck that Partion, the Backup Completes successfully. I have seen indications to run ChkDsk, which I have done on C-F Drives but the Partition causing the issue is not one with a Drive Letter cannot do so on it.

Any thoughts on how to go about fixing this would be appreciated. Have a great day/weekend, and be safe.

Macrium Reflect Free is currently at version 7.

There was a hotfix added to version 6 for this issue, and Macrium recommends updating to the current version.

I totally agree, I had an issue with a version way back, so I totally uninstalled Macrium. Downloaded the latest version and installed it, been perfect ever since

    Thank you as well.

    10 years also.

I would follow @AddRAM's advice about uninstalling first.

Thanks for the thought. No go. Uninstalled, Ran CCleaner to make sure everything was cleaned up, verified Folders had been Deleted, Rebooted, Reinstalled, Recreated Job and Ran, same Error/Issue. Reverified if I uncheck Partiion 2 (Active, Recovery Partition) the Backup will run.

The Recovery Partition should not be the Active Partition.

Go to Disk Management and post a screen shot of the entries.

Expand so we can see all the information for each disk.

Your screen shot should look something like this -

Macrium Reflect Unknown Error Error Code = 9 after Upgrade to Win10-dm.jpg

Make sure the drive you're backing up to is shown as well.

For uninstalling, you might try Revo Uninstaller Portable, which is free.

Appreciate the info. Disk 0 Partition 2 has been the Active Partition since I got the Laptop from Dell back in its Win7 Days. The First thing I did when I got the Laptop was use GParted off a Linux Boot CD to Shrink the Original C Drive and Add the other Partitions. Here is the Snapshot:

Macrium Reflect Unknown Error Error Code = 9 after Upgrade to Win10-hard-drives.jpg

As for the Destination, it is not listed in Disk Manager as it is a 24TB FreeNAS Box being accessed via UNC Path (\\FREENAS\Backups\Macrium\FullBackup\) with just under 1TB Free.

I will give Revo Uninstaller a shot after work today.

The only other change to the Laptop has been the Replacement of the Mechanical Drive with the current SSD approx. 6 Months ago. I used Macrium Reflect to Back up the Original Drive and Restore it to the New Drive successfully, and have performed Backups of it since that time. It was not until the upgrade from Win7 to Win10 that it stopped working.

Thanks again for all of the help/suggestions to try, because I am stumped at this point.
