    Yes, it was never very reliable. It's worst failing was being suddenly (for no obvious reason) unable to recognise one of its images as being available to restore.

    Microsoft are doing their best to discourage its use....

    I've installed the free version of Macrium Reflect. I see four partitions where in Windows Backup, and Windows Disk Management, I only saw three partitions. Per Macrium Reflect, partition number 2 is 16.0 MB unformatted primary. What's the purpose of that partition?

    Somebody else might give you a proper answer but, in the meantime, I can reassure you that it's correct. Macrium Reflect shows you an 'MSR' partition that does exist but that Windows applications hide.

    As Try3 says, it's the Microsoft Reserved Partition (MSR). All GPT formatted drives will have one. Disk Management (by design) does not show it.
