Is there some reason you can't use a legitimate method of activating Windows, like a product key?

Yes. Actually this install is from a slipstreamed Win 7 in which many alterations have been made. So, I do not want to use my genuine key on this.

Then we can't help you with this any more on this forum. It's against forum rules to talk about illegimate activation methods.

I understand but one query that can I use my genuine key on this Window without fear of any damage to my genuine key. I will not be using this genuine key on any other PC.

Get a valid win7 license. If you have slic2.1 in your bios, you are entitled to win7. Or transfer win7 license from another machine. Otherwise, buy a license. Don't fool around with "activators".

As long as your product key is for the same edition of Windows 7 (Home, Pro, Ultimate), yes you can use your product key.
