Backup Image failed - 0x80780119 error

    Backup Image failed - 0x80780119 error-fig-8-9.png
I received this error message when trying to create a system image. By back up destination has plenty of free space.

I have read that it has to do with my system reserved partition not having enough free space. The easiest way I can think of is to increase the size of this partition. Any suggestions on the best way to go about this? All I want to do is create a back up.

    a. What tool or what means are you using to create a disk image?
    b. Did you note:

    c. On what are you trying to save the image? E.g. how big is the disk? And how large is the source data you are imaging?

Let me guess you are using Backup and restore (Windows 7). If so, don't. MS recommends people use a 3rd party solution (such as Macrium Reflect, which is so often mentioned here- the free version is good enough for most).

Unlike Backup and restore (Windows 7), such tools are updated and supported.

    Sorry

    - Windows 10 Pro 2004 Build 19041.572
    - Using the windows back up feature in the control panel
    - Source data and destination are in the second screen shot in my first post. I am trying to back up my C drive to my D drive
    - Source is using 163gb with 767gb free
    - Destination has 1.33TB free
    - System reserved partition is only 50MB with 20MB free. I believe this is the issue

According to the error message partitions with less than 500mb free need 50mb free. Well the partition is 50mb in itself and I only have 20mb free.

As far as Macrium goes I will look into it. Probably will just end up using that then.

Macrium Reflect is free and awesome. Be sure to make the Macrium bootable media as well.

I've never used the Windows backup system. I learned long ago, that it was pretty much useless.

I have used 3rd party backup software from Norton, Acronis and now Macrium Reflect.
Macrium is by far the lightest on resources.

In fact, most people on here use Macrium (free or paid).

If you only back up to internal drives, then you don't have a backup which is secure. You are at risk from
    a. viruses etc
    b. theft (no securely stored separate backup)
    c. some sort of major failure e.g. power.

Specific data backup (e.g. synching, scheduled...) complements disk imaging, as does the use of System Restore (when it succeeds in restoring that's great).

My 2012 Dell W10 desktop (from today) is shown below. 1TB hard drive has: 39MB, 18.25GB, and 913.22GB. Both Backup & Restore (Windows 7) and Ghost 15 programs have made recent images (and restored images) of this hard drive.

This desktop was ordered from Dell website, and has only received Windows updates since 2012. With NO clean installs of Windows 7 or 10. Windows Update used to upgrade W7 to W10 in 2016. All the partitions are still the same sizes as when it shipped from Dell factory. No DBAN or anything else.

My two NTFS partitions are 913GB and 18GB (factory original size); while yours are 930GB and 50MB. Good Luck.

I agree completely. At some point soon I will figure out a solution to this. I was considering a nas of some sort. But until then I was going to save the image to my D drive and also copy it to a separate computer.

Also I downloaded and installed Macrium Reflect. Made a back up image with no issues. So I will mark this thread as resolved. Thank you for introducing me to Macrium Reflect. Seems like a great back up solution.
