Transferring data from the boot drive to a secondary drive in a laptop

This may be a dumb question but I have new laptop with a 500GB boot drive and a secondary 1TB spinner drive in it but have no idea on how to transfer say photos and other data like that from the boot drive to the larger disk. I don't wantto copy the Windows installation as most Googles I have done seem to think that I want to do.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

create a folder on your spinner (Downloads ....transfers, whatever) and drag and drop what you want.
You can delete the c:\ files after.
Go to settings /apps and you can change to location of saved data. such as Maps.
In your browsers and any other download program make this spinner folder the default for downloads.
    in Firefox Menu / options

Filezilla just choose the folder and it will remember.

Do you know where this data resides on the 500 GB drive---in what folders?

If you do, what happens if you do an ordinary drag and drop from those folders to, for instance, a temp directory on the 1 TB spinner?

Photos should be under users/your profile/photos

Add 'Copy To folder' and 'Move To folder' Context Menu in Windows 10

drag and drop is just copying. the files will be in two folders .

Win 10 allows you to move some apps to the spinner if you like.

    This is an option:

    1) Open two side by side file explorer windows
    2) On the left open to the Users folders in the copy from drive (500 GB)
    3) On the right open the paste to drive (1 TB)
    4) Create a new folder on the paste to drive for each Users folder desired
    5) Right click copy on the applicable Users folder on the copy from drive and paste to the applicable folder on the paste to drive

    6) In case you do not want to copy the entire Users folder:
Open the Users folder > highlight the desired files using the control or shift keys > right click copy > paste into the appliable folder on the paste to drive
