    Restore Point Gone

Hello,Before 'checking for updates', usually I run sfc scan, make a backup image (full or differential) with Macrium, and then chk for updates. Before starting, I checked size of "C" drive (system), it was about 28 GB, there was a 2 weeks old restore point. After making the differential backup, noticed size of "C" = 24.6 GB, checked what happened - restore point gone.Is it possible that Macrium differential wiped out the restore point ?, is it normal ?Anyway, that restore point as said above was two weeks old.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Often MS will remove restore point as they are out of date and if used would restore old system files which could break the system

It's my thought/opinion that Windows Version Upgrades and Build updates deletes the System Restore points due to the changes made and the available "go back" or System Reset process if Windows has problems. The changes that System Restore could make may result in their own conflicts rendering the OS inoperative. System Restore points can be created manually if desired.

I doubt Macrium would delete restore points but Windows can and will do so at various times. Restore points are not like a time machine that will completely restore the OS back to a previous state. For that you need a clone or image backup. In the interests of keeping them to a reasonable size Restore Points are more limited. They can cope with such things as restoring the OS to a working state after installing a faulty driver. They cannot cope with the major changes introduced by many system updates. For that reason they are deleted before the update is started. After the update using the restore point would likely cause more harm than good.
