Using Macrium to restore mbr image of Win 10 to NVMe GPT

Hello

• I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64 v1903 build 18362.959 on a
• Dell Optiplex 7040 MT w/16GB RAM and 512GB 2.5" SSD
• Win 10 is still MBR partitioned
• I'm adding a 500GB NVMe I purchased from Crucial
• I'm using Macrium Home Edition v7.2.5107 (s/b latest version)

I want to restore my backup image from a USB external drive to the NVMe and convert MBR to GPT partitioning as well. I understand I should disable the SATA 2.5" SSD in BIOS before the restore.

What I'm not sure of: will Macrium restore to new Hardware (the NVMe) and by default also convert from MBR to GPT or are there additional steps to get the partitioning done as part of the restore? Any other tips/info you think might be helpful in the process are welcome as well.

Though I would point out a couple things re: Macrium User Guide

• Guide says "Boot into Win PE". It should say "Boot into Macrium Recovery Media" (Initially I did what it said and used a Win PE bootable flash! )
• After you select an image file you need click Restore Image icon (on the right of the screen)
• When the Destination drive appears be sure it's correct! (In my case, it defaulted to the wrong drive). In which case click Select a Different Destination to find the correct drive.

And as guide states, I also had to use Macrium's Fix boot problems (I chose to first Disable the 2.5" SSD in BIOS so I was certain it was fixing the right drive)

Finally, HEADS UP!
When I went to mount the NVMe there was NO mounting screw on the motherboard! And Crucial didn't send one either with the NVMe. (Looking online it seems no mount screw on the m/b isn't unique just to Dells.) I had to run out and found one at a local computer store. Some online said you can also get them at Ace. In any case, don't be surprised if same happens to you.
